CBT Guided Self Help

CBT guided self-help is based on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and helps you to focus on your goals.

It is an evidence-based form of therapy for difficulties including:

Depression
Generalised anxiety disorder
Panic disorder
Phobias

As you work through CBT guided self-help materials, you learn new techniques to challenge negative thoughts and feelings. You’ll be supported by a trained psychological wellbeing practitioner (PWP).

Sessions are usually up to 30 minutes each week. At the end of each session, you and your PWP will agree on goals for you to complete before your next appointment. These goals will help you to get the most out of the treatment.

This type of guided self help therapy can be offered either via webinar, in groups, face-to-face, via video calls, or over the telephone. It’s flexible to work around your other commitments, and it’s useful if you find it difficult to attend longer sessions.

This type of talking therapy will help you to understand the CBT approach and is proven to be an effective treatment for both depression and anxiety disorders.

If you choose to get self help CBT, it could also be the first step in helping you to prepare for future support, if needed.
